Jeremy Clarkson-The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour is a new show from ex-Top Gear presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond that will be aired on Amazon’s streaming video service. Clarkson has given fans an insight into the structure of the new show and said that they would be “hosting each episode in a different country”.

The trio had initially appealed to fans on Twitter asking for suggestions for their new show name. On 27th April Jeremy Clarkson Tweeted “I have joined Facebook and posted a video of our latest efforts to find a name for the Amazon car show”. However, the show’s new name was revealed on 11th May 2016 after Clarkson tweeted “Start the smoke. We have a name.”

Although the trio only released the name of their new show on 11th May 2016, a trademark for “The Grand Tour” had already been filed for production, broadcasting and transmission of radio and television programmes and for publications on 8th April 2016 by Brand New Business Ltd. The company then filed a second application for the same name in trademark classes including clothing, bags and toys. However the first European trademark that Brand New Business Ltd  had filed for was “The Drive Tribe”  on 7th January 2016 in the same categories as “The Grand Tour”.

The relationship between this business and the ex-Top Gear trio is unclear.

Since announcing their new show name, Clarkson, May and Hammond have released the potential names they came up with on their new show’s Facebook page however, "The Drive Tribe" isn’t one of them.

The new show is due to be released in autumn 2016 on Amazon’s streaming video service. The locations of the episodes are yet to be confirmed.
